Mr. John’s Steakhouse

Owned and operated by Desi Vega, Rodney Salvaggio (Mr. John’s son-in-law) and Paul Varisco. Rodney Savaggio owned and operated “Smilie’s” in Jefferson Parish for 25 years. This was one of my Dad’s frequent haunts!! Reminds me of a classic New York steakhouse with its wood-paneled walls and boisterous atmosphere. From the moment you walk through the door, you can smell the aroma of steaks sizzling in melted butter!  So yummy!!  The servers are extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Extensive wine list! Fried Calamari (topped with Creole marinated olive salad) is to die for!!  Other personal favorites include the French Onion Soup, Hearts of Lettuce Salad, Surf and Turf, Veal Alyssa, Crystal Hot Sauce Onion Rings, Freddie Mac and Cheese and, of course, the Creamed Spinach!
